Project details

  • Value of project: $560,000
  • Architect: Bauer Latoza Architects
  • Owner: Chicago Park District
  • Scope: ADA Upgrades including bathroom renovations, handicap ramp and railings and door modifications
  • Time frame: 6 months

This project offered an interesting challenge as it was a single contract that included two parks. As a historical building, all work done on Indian Boundary Park had to match the existing historical details. For example, the ramp added on the north of the building was matched in the masonry details, color, style, texture, and mortar. The interior bathrooms were upgraded to allow for ADA accessibility and the doors were modified and/or replaced in areas to code.

The Gill Park renovation focused more on the interior, removing walls, upgrading the bathrooms and locker rooms. The challenge here was to match the different color tiles while adding accessories to allow for ADA accessibility to the locker rooms and bathrooms. We also added bleachers to the baseball field and some exterior drinking fountains.
